A good breakfast is important. Most of us know this, but it still gets forgotten - often due to lack of time. For a healthy and fit body, it is important that you take your time in the morning and sit down for the first meal of the day. Why? We'll explain it to you.

Better concentration
When you wake up, your body hasn't had any food or drink for six to eight hours. Your battery is (nearly) empty. In order to function properly during the day, your body needs food. This allows you to concentrate much better during the day. And that, of course, has a positive effect on your work or college performance.

Get your digestive juices working!
Another very good reason to have breakfast is to get your digestive system working. Get your digestive system working with a healthy, tasty breakfast and, as the day goes on, your body will be able absorb all the nutrients you need for that day more effectively.

Breakfast helps you maintain a healthy weight
A healthy breakfast is also important to maintain your weight. If you have breakfast, you'll feel full up for longer. That way, you'll be less likely to start snacking or be tempted by something sweet.

Spreading the food quantity
If you choose not to have breakfast, but have a bigger lunch instead, you will notice that you have much less energy after lunch. All your energy goes into processing that big lunch. If you just eat breakfast and a smaller lunch, your body will spread this process over the whole day. This gives you energy throughout the day and allows you to concentrate effectively.

Taking a moment for yourself
Another advantage of a healthy, hearty breakfast is it gives you the opportunity to take a moment for yourself before the day starts. Sit back and relax with a cup of coffee or tea and a tasty omelette with some vegetables or a bowl of yoghurt and/or fruit. Taking a moment to have breakfast gives you the opportunity to quietly prepare yourself for the busy day to come.
