What do you mean too old?

That's for me to say!

What Jim says about it.

Read his story here.

1. What does being fit mean for you?

For me “fit” means that you are in balance. Having control over your eating and drinking, fitness/daily exercise and feeling comfortable whatever you're wearing.

2. Have you ever had any unpleasant comments about your level of fitness or your muscular body?

My body is in relatively good shape, but I wouldn't say my body is really “muscular”. As far as I can remember, I don't think I've ever had a negative comment about my physical shape or level of fitness.

Not to my face anyway.

3. Our campaign is all about body positivity. How do you see this?

BASIC-FIT encourages the right approach when it comes to keeping fit and body positivity. Staying fit is good for everyone.

4. Which of your goals have you already achieved?

I have found out that the best way for me to keep in shape is simply walking. For the past couple of years I've been walking 10,000 steps every day, no matter what the weather. I take a different route every day. That way I see new and familiar faces and places every day.

5. What goals do you still want to achieve?

I am now 73 years old and I don't necessarily feel the need to aspire to getting the shape of a body builder, I am happy with my level of fitness as it is now.

6. Who or what motivates you to keep fit?

I want to stay healthy and stick with daily exercise and a good diet to help me stay healthy, for as long as I can. And, to keep on wearing the clothes I currently own.

7. Have you got any tips to inspire others on their fitness journey

Try to make daily exercise a habit, just like cleaning your teeth. Watch your diet and try to eat a healthy diet as much as possible. Keep alcohol, smoking and sweet things to a minimum. How you exercise is individual, each person will have his or her own preferences. Start by getting through the front door and just GO FOR IT!
