Fitland Q&A

General information

Why is Fitland selling all of its clubs to Basic-Fit?
Basic-Fit's take-over of these clubs is a great opportunity for Fitland to join the largest fitness chain in Europe. Such an extensive network with robust brand awareness offers more opportunities for both our members and our staff. For you, this means being able to exercise at more than 1250 clubs across Europe!

What will change and when?
Nothing will change for you until 1 September. You will retain your Fitland membership and Fitland will continue to carry out the direct debit. You can continue to work out at the location(s) you currently use and you can already work out at all Basic-Fit clubs. Upon presenting your Fitland pass, the club's host will let you in. If your Fitland club has extra facilities, such as a swimming pool, spa, sauna and/or squash courts, you may continue using them. The live group classes will continue according to the existing schedule.

Given the GDPR legislation, may members of Fitland be approached by Basic-Fit without warning? What if these members have already indicated that they do not want to be approached?
Basic-Fit took over Fitland's membership base on 1 July. Basic-Fit only uses this data for communication about your membership or contract and never for commercial purposes, unless explicit permission is subsequently provided for this.

MEMBERSHIP

May I remain a member?
Yes, you may certainly remain a member. During the transition phase, you will remain a Fitland club member at the current Fitland conditions and rate. You do not have to do anything. You may also work out at all of the Basic-Fit clubs. Upon presenting your Fitland pass, the club's host will let you in. At the end of July, you will receive an offer to continue your membership with Basic-Fit. This will allow you to continue exercising in your trusted environment at a favourable rate.

What will happen to my membership?
All Fitland members will automatically switch over to a Basic-Fit membership with effect from 1 September. This is a flexible membership that has a cancellation period of 30 days. If you do not wish to switch to a Basic-Fit membership, you can terminate your membership on 1 September 2019.

But what if I want to cancel my Fitland membership?
What a pity that you want to cancel your membership! To do so, you will have to notify Fitland of your membership cancellation. However, we do advise you to wait a bit over the coming period to see what exactly will change. Should you, nevertheless, decide to terminate your membership, you have until the 1 September 2019 deadline to do so.

How long will members continue to pay the same rate if the transition phase starts on 1 July?
The rates will be paid in the same manner for both July and August. Payment for the month of September will take place via Basic-Fit according to the new rate. All members will be informed about the Basic-Fit rate at the end of July.

Does Basic-Fit also have an illness and holiday arrangement for its members?
Basic-Fit does not provide the option to freeze your membership in case of illness or for holidays. We do not have any arrangements for holidays. We do, however, have Basic-Fit clubs abroad. So, if you happen to go on holiday to Belgium, France, Spain or Luxembourg, you can continue to work out during your holiday! If you are unable to exercise due to medical reasons, it is possible to cancel your membership earlier.

May Basic-Fit members also work out with us starting from 1 July?
You have only a little longer to wait. Effective 1 September, everyone will be a Basic-Fit member at which time, you may also use all of the Fitland clubs.

Can Fitland members also exercise at a Basic-Fit location from 1 July?
Yes, they may! Upon presenting your Fitland pass, the club's host will let you in. This is possible at all Basic-Fit locations.

Will there be new passes?
You will receive a free membership pass from Basic-Fit.

FACILITIES

Is there free parking?
If the parking is free now, it will remain free.

Which facilities will be taken away?
The Fitland clubs are being converted one-by-one into the Basic-Fit concept. Once it is your club's turn, you will be informed by email and posters in the club. Conversion to the Basic-Fit concept may result in changes to your club. Details about these changes will be announced in due course.

Will the sauna stay?
Basic-Fit's concept does not include saunas, so we will eventually close them. For the time being, all facilities will remain the same until 1 September, unless your club is undergoing renovations. All members of the relevant club will be informed about any changes to the facilities.

Will all of the equipment be replaced or will the current equipment remain?
The Fitland clubs are being converted one-by-one into the Basic-Fit concept. Once it is your club's turn, you will be informed by email and posters in the club. New equipment may be installed. All members and clubs will be informed in due time about the details of the renovation and its impact.

Will the opening hours change?
The opening hours will be extended! Basic-Fit applies the same opening hours to all clubs, so this will also apply to the Fitland clubs. See our website for the opening hours of each club. The opening hours will change starting from 1 September. Basic-Fit is also working on the 24/7 concept so that more and more locations will be open 24/7.
