If you’re one of those very busy people, who struggle to fit gym time into your schedule, then you might want to take this article into consideration. We saw previously that no matter how pressed for time you are, it’s never good to skip warming up before a fitness session. The good news is that there are quick warm-ups you can do while heading towards the gym, letting you make the most out of the little time you have.

Quick warm-ups to do on the way to the gym
How you get to the gym will condition the type of exercises you can do on the way. If you live within three kilometers of the gym, then you can walk, starting off at a moderate pace, and then picking it up to a jog. Go up every flight of stairs you come across to add some intensity, and plan your route through parks and streets with lots of trees. You’ll get to the gym faster than you think, and you will have already done a really good warm-up. Since there are so many Basic-Fit gyms, it’s easy to find one that’s less than a 20 minute walk or jog away. Take your pick from our list of gyms to find the right one

If your preferred gym is too far away, another option is to go by bike. It’s great for a quick warm-up. Just as you’d do if you went on foot, slowly pick up the pace to ride faster. You can boost the intensity of your ride by pedalling with one foot, alternating between both for the same amount of time. This will help you warm up your lower body. The best part is that in most cities, getting around by bike is often faster than by car, due to all the traffic. This way you can kill two birds with one stone: you warm up while saving time getting to the gym!

Don’t forget to stretch
Stretches are crucial for warming up your muscles before a fitness session, so you should always make sure to do them, even if it’s quick. You can do your stretches on the way to the gym. Whether by bike or on foot, every time you stop at a red light, take a moment to stretch your arms and legs. You can even lean on the traffic light for support!

The point is to do light exercises and stretches while on your way to work out, in order to make the most of your time. These were just a few examples, but there are many quick warm-ups you can do during your trip to the gym. If you have very little time, then be creative and take advantage of every second you’ve got! Your health depends on it!
